Situated in the center of Amsterdam on Dam Square, the Royal Palace was built in the 17th century. Inside, ornate rooms open to stunning marble and architectural gems like hand-painted ceilings and sculptures. Today, it remains one of three palaces the royal family maintains for lavish receptions and events. Visitors are welcome to guided and audio tours of various grand halls, rooms and galleries. Most notably is the Empire-style collection of furniture and decorative arts, featuring over 2,000 pieces alongside several special exhibitions throughout the year.
