For prime nightlife, this former milk factory, Melkweg (meaning Milky Way) is considered one of the Amsterdam's most hip electronic music venues. Nestled along Amsterdam's canals and founded in the 1970s as a uniquely counterculture outlet, Melkweg (meaning Milky Way) now houses various multi-purpose rooms and large spaces for live music and dancing. Upstairs, the more intimate Oude Zaal (Old Hall) hosts buzzy, up-and-coming bands. A new modern hall addition called the Rabozaal hosts seated concerts. Two theaters for digital programming show movies and screenings.
